Jay & Esther Hutchison
Innkeepers of Woodsong Acres Bed and Breakfast, Kingsville, Ohio
We’re Jay and Esther Hutchison, the innkeepers behind Woodsong Acres Bed and Breakfast. Every article on this blog is written from what we’ve actually done, tasted, driven, and shared with our guests here in northeast Ohio. When we recommend a winery, a covered bridge, or a quiet spot along Lake Erie, it’s because we’ve been there, and usually more than once.
Why Ashtabula County Is Home
Jay grew up in the Saybrook and Geneva area, so moving to Kingsville in 2023 was a homecoming for him and the realization of a long-held dream of moving back home. We relocated from Florida, closed on the property on May 18, 2023, and welcomed our first guests in July 2023. Opening the B&B was God intervening for sure and what a blessing it has been! Â
Esther fell for the area just as quickly: the small-town charm, the thrift and antique shops, the changing seasons, and the sense of community. Jay knows these roads from a lifetime here, and Esther sees them with the fresh eyes of someone who chose them. Together we cover both sides of what makes this place special.
Hospitality Learned by Doing
We didn’t come from the hotel industry. What we bring is years of opening our home to friends and family, a genuine love of bringing people together, and now more than three years of running Woodsong Acres full time. Our guests have noticed. We’ve earned over 100 Google reviews, and many of the people who stay with us come back.
We call ourselves Experience Makers, because we believe hospitality is about more than providing a room. It’s creating an atmosphere where people can slow down, connect, and make lasting memories. Our slogan, “Connect and Unwind,” says the same thing: life is about connection and relationships, and that’s the heart of everything we do. From the moment a guest turns down our driveway, we want them to feel like they’re somewhere special.
What We Write About, and Why You Can Trust It
We write about the things we know firsthand:

Covered bridges
Ashtabula County is known for its covered bridges. For the past couple of years we’ve decorated the State Road Covered Bridge, just minutes from our property, for Christmas. We hope more neighbors and businesses will join in and help create a covered bridge winter tour.

Local wineries, restaurants, and shops
These are the places we send our own guests and the businesses we’re proud to support.

Lake Erie and hidden gems
The beaches, small towns, and lesser-known stops that don’t always make the big travel lists.

Seasonal experiences
From autumn color to maple syrup season to Christmas at Woodsong Acres, where guests have told us it feels like a Hallmark movie.

Planning your stay
Practical, honest advice for first-time visitors to the area.
Our recommendations come from real guest conversations, our own weekends exploring, and relationships with local business owners. We’re involved in our community and committed to supporting local businesses, and we’ll always tell you plainly what to expect.
A Family Business
Woodsong Acres is truly a family effort. We’re raising our two youngest sons, who help in the business, from welcoming and serving guests to making maple syrup with Jay. Our oldest son and his wife pitch in from time to time, and we squeeze in time with our granddaughter whenever we can.
What’s Next: The Cider House and Winery
We’re planning to open the Woodsong Acres Cider House and Winery in spring 2027, another space for people to gather over good food and cider and enjoy being together. Follow the blog for updates as we build it.
